Charities supported

Charity is one of the cornerstones of Freemasonry. Our members donate what they can afford and generously give up their time and energy to support worthy causes.

From raffles, ladies nights or lectures about F1 racing cars to undertaking the 3 Peaks challenge or cycling from Hayling Island to Farnborough, Freemasons are about helping those less fortunate than themselves and having fun at the same time.
Listed below are some of the non masonic organisations Basing Lodge have supported over the last few years:

Our Worshipful Master for 2022 - Graham Quinn has nominated St Michael's Hospice in Basingstoke as his nominated Charity. St Michaels Hospice, in our local town is adjacent to the North Hampshire Hospital and enables anyone faced with a life limiting illness such as cancer, their families and carers, to attain the highest possible quality of life by providing a choice of specialist care and support.

  Women's Aid is about shaping and co-ordinating responses to domestic abuse. They are a grassroots Charitable foundation working together in life saving circumstances in England and they strive to build a future where domestic abuse to Women and children is not tolerated.

2019 - Ark Cancer Centre Charity, North Hampshire Hospital, Basingstoke  ARK1.jpg (thumbnail)

A much needed cancer treatment centre is being created at the North Hampshire Hospital to integrate conventional and supportive cancer care for local people. Ark Cancer Centre Charity is raising £5M towards the cost of the centre. This exciting project is a major opportunity for everyone involved to create a centre of excellence that will benefit so many people in the locality.

2018 - St. Michael's Hospice, Basingstoke

St. Michael's Hosptice locally supporting patients at very difficult times, their current mantra of 'Celebrating Life' is expanding and improving the personal touch at these times with a clinical and caring environment making for a more comfortable surroundings and easing stress.

 SpaceHive is the only UK based crowdfunding platform solely for projects aimed at improving  local civic and community spaces. In Basingstoke they work with Basingstoke Voluntary Action  raising funds to support the homeless in the town.

2016 - SANDS - Stillbirth & Neonatal Death CharitySANDS.png (small thumbnail)

Sands is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. Operating throughout the UK, they support anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.

 Naomi House and Jacksplace are hospices that support families from seven counties in southern  England.They offer a full palliative care service that includes respite, emergency and end of life  care for life-limited and life-threatened children & young adults from birth into their later years.

Basingstoke Neighbourcare, aims to help the elderly or vulnerable remain independent but able to get about. They do this by offering a lift service to appointments or shopping trips and a befriending service when clients have little contact with family or friends.

  Enabling younger people to become more independent and confident, the Adventure Ranger          Corp has a focus on outdoor activites and leadership. Awarded a donation by the Province of          Hampshire and Isle of Wight -  Tom Langton fund after a request to support them was made          by Basing Lodge.

2013 – Helping Hands for the Blind

A Basingstoke based charity enabling visually impaired local people become more independent by offering support, practical advice, training and information and leisure activities

2012 – Basingstoke Alzheimer’s Society

Singing for the Brain is a therapeutic and social activity for people with dementia and their carers. They participate in singing sessions together in a friendly and informal setting in Old Basing

2012 – Piam Brown Childrens Ward, Southampton General Hospital

The regional paediatric oncology and haematology unit for Wessex. Based on the top floor of Southampton General Hospital, they treat all types of cancer in children up to 16 years old.

2012 – St Michael’s Hospice, Basingstoke

Our local hospice cares for patients and their families throughout North Hampshire who are affected by life-limiting illness. The care and support they offer is fantastic both inside the Hospice and in the community.

2011 – Loddon School, Basingstoke

The Loddon School is both home and school for 28 children who have the most severe and complex learning difficulties. It is for children who can no longer live at home because of their exceptional support needs. It is the only school of its kind in the U.K.


2010 – Naomi House & Jacksplace

Hospice for children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. Based near Winchester, they provide care to young people and their families in Hampshire and surrounding counties.


2009 – Basingstoke Alzheimer’s Society

The Basingstoke branch of the Alzheimer’s Society works to improve the quality of life for people affected by dementia in the local area.

Saxon Wood School is a special school based in Rooksdown, Basingstoke. They cater for up to 35 children with physical difficulties and complex medical needs.
